Push File / Directory to Device

Copies files and directories from the host computer to the Android device filesystem.

Command Syntax

adb push

Generic Syntax: adb push [--sync] [-z <ALGORITHM>] [-Z] <local_path>... <remote_path>

Options & Parameters

Flag	Description
--sync	Only push files that are newer or different on host.
-z <ALGO>	Enable compression (any, brotli, lz4, zstd, none).
-Z	Disable compression completely.

Real-World Usage Examples

Push single file to Download folder

Uploads file to Android downloads directory.

adb push photo.jpg /sdcard/Download/

Output:

photo.jpg: 1 file pushed, 0 skipped. 42.1 MB/s (3401928 bytes in 0.077s)

Push entire folder with compression

Pushes folder tree using zstd compression for maximum transfer speed.

adb push -z zstd ./assets /sdcard/Music/

Output:

assets/: 128 files pushed, 0 skipped. 68.4 MB/s (148291044 bytes in 2.067s)
