Get Android System Properties

Retrieves Android system build, hardware, and configuration properties.

Command Syntax

adb shell getprop
Generic Syntax: getprop [<property_name>]

Options & Parameters

Flag Description
[property] Specific property key to query (e.g. ro.build.version.release).

Real-World Usage Examples

Get Android OS release version
Returns Android release (e.g. 14, 15, 16).
adb shell getprop ro.build.version.release
Output:
16
Get SDK API level
Returns numerical API level (e.g. 34, 35, 36).
adb shell getprop ro.build.version.sdk
Output:
36
Get device hardware model and manufacturer
Returns commercial hardware model name.
adb shell getprop ro.product.model
Output:

Get primary CPU architecture ABI
