How to Fix Wireless Debugging Connection Refused / Failed

Troubleshoot Wi-Fi network routing, dynamic ports, and firewall blocks.

Common Symptoms

  • `adb connect` times out or fails with connection refused
  • Device disconnects from Wi-Fi debugging randomly

Root Causes

  • Wi-Fi router has AP Isolation / Client Isolation enabled (preventing phone from talking to PC)
  • Dynamic port changed in Android 11+ Wireless Debugging menu upon reconnecting to Wi-Fi
  • Device and computer are on different subnet bands (e.g. 2.4GHz Guest vs 5GHz Main)

Proven Solutions

Solution 1: Check Current Dynamic Port in Developer Options

  1. Android 11+ changes the port number each time Wi-Fi reconnects
  2. Open Settings > Developer options > Wireless debugging
  3. Check "IP address & Port" at the bottom of the screen (e.g. 192.168.1.100:41923)
  4. Connect to that exact port: `adb connect 192.168.1.100:41923`
adb connect <IP>:<PORT>

Solution 2: Re-pair with 6-Digit Code

Run `adb pair <PAIR_IP>:<PAIR_PORT> <CODE>` then reconnect.

adb pair <IP>:<PORT> <code>
adb connect <IP>:<PORT>
