How to Check Android Battery Health, Capacity & Charge Cycles Using ADB

Read authentic hardware battery wear percentage, charge cycle count, real-time mA discharge rates, and temperature from Android kernel sysfs via ADB.

Prerequisites & Requirements

  • Android smartphone or tablet (any brand: Samsung, Pixel, Xiaomi, OnePlus)
  • USB Debugging enabled in Developer Options
  • WebADB Shell or computer terminal

Step-by-Step Instructions

1

Connect Device to WebADB or Terminal

Connect your phone with a USB data cable and open https://adbtoolkit.com/webadb.

2

Query Live Battery Diagnostic Service

Dump the Android BatteryService state:

adb shell dumpsys battery
3

Read Hardware Charge Cycle Count from Kernel sysfs

On Google Pixel, Motorola, and modern Android 14+ devices, read the hardware fuel gauge cycle counter:

adb shell cat /sys/class/power_supply/battery/cycle_count
4

Inspect Design Capacity vs Remaining Maximum Capacity

Read the original factory capacity and current full charge capacity in microampere-hours (µAh):

adb shell "cat /sys/class/power_supply/battery/charge_full && cat /sys/class/power_supply/battery/charge_full_design"
