How to Sideload APKs on Android TV & Fire Stick (Browser & Wi-Fi)

Install any third-party streaming application or APK directly onto your Android TV, Google TV, or Amazon Fire TV Stick without USB flash drives.

Prerequisites & Requirements

  • Android TV, Google TV, or Fire TV Stick connected to same Wi-Fi
  • Web browser on PC, tablet, or phone (Chrome, Edge, Brave)

Step-by-Step Instructions

1

Enable Developer Options & USB/Network Debugging on TV

On Android TV: Go to Settings > Device Preferences > About > Tap "Build" 7 times. Go back to Developer options > Enable "Network debugging" or "ADB debugging". Note the TV IP address (Settings > Network & Internet).

2

Connect to TV over Wi-Fi

In your computer terminal, connect to your TV on port 5555:

adb connect 192.168.1.150:5555
3

Accept RSA Authorization on TV Screen

A pop-up dialog will appear on your television. Using your TV remote control, select "Always allow from this computer" and click "OK".

4

Install APK Package

Send the APK directly to the TV:

adb install -r my-tv-app.apk
